Two Door Cinema Club
I've recently been listening to an Irish band called Two Door Cinema Club. They've been one of my favorites for a little less than a year now and I still love just about every song of theirs. People have said that they sound a lot like the band Phoenix, but I really think of Two Door as having more of a dance and sometimes faster paced sound than Phoenix. As a guitar player for 6 years, I can say that the guitar parts they use aren't your average 'Walk Don't Run' or anything like that by any means. They are, at times, pretty challenging and their extensive use of short guitar licks throughout almost every song is a relatively original thing. But there hasn't been a single time where I didn't have a blast playing their music. The singer has an amazing voice that is a little on the higher pitched side of the spectrum and he has become easily one of my favorite singers. Now I mainly play drums, so I'll be the first to say that the drum beats they use in their songs are often almost identical. But in my opinion, it never gets old and really does add a lot to the overall sound of each song. The beat is actually one of the most fun ones to play that I know of. If you were to just check out a couple Two Door songs, I would say listen to the most famous one: "What You Know" first and then maybe "Cigarettes in the Theater." Some other really great ones worth listening to are "Come Back Home," "Something Good Can Work," "I Can Talk," and off of their unreleased album, the song "Sleep Alone."
